Historic railway shed (cut in half!) - near southern cross station

From the car park, having signed the “if i get lost come and rescue me book”, I walked to the not much of a mount ‘ayre’ nice view which i thought was too hazy but has come out really well on the pics. then a 400m decent (the car park always seems to be at the top and you walk downwards… strange country)which the guide describes as murderously steep, to the not very attractive green murky river shoalhaven.
Iate lunch by some really nice looking pools (which were handnumbingly cold at this time of year – apparently just the spot for a dip in summer) following the path along the ‘river’ until i reached the gorge itself and the boulder choke (which i think is what you do when you see what you have to climb across) none of the pics i took really show the scale of this pile of rocks which i had to climb over, under, around… some of them were huge, like about 10m all piled up on each other - never seen anythign like it! then into the gorge proper, its um not very wide and has vertical sides about 400m high, pretty impressive. then another ‘clamber’ back out. and there were kangaroos on the way back, hopping across the road.
